Thousand Island

Thousand Islands or "Kepulauan Seribu" is the name of many tropical islands scattered in the Java Sea and only take from a mere half hour to a three hours’ boat ride from the north coast of Jakarta.


Here, around 20,000 people live on 11 islands only, while all others are either uninhabited, are privately owned or are a restricted nature sanctuary. The surrounding reefs in the islands are home to a wide variety of fishes, making Pulau Seribu a snorkeling heaven and ideal spot for diving or fishing. The surrounding waters are a paradise for skin divers. They are filled with a lot of tropical fish, which live among the multicolored corals.
